The challenge
Welcoming the Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Wood Horse), Plaza Senayan sought an ambient celebration blending classical Chinese architectural heritage with Jakarta's refined cosmopolitan lifestyle:
- Dual Forecourt & Atrium Scale: Transforming multiple high-profile zones, from the arrival drop-off forecourt and VIP lobby to the central dome atrium on the ground floor.
- Wet-Season Weather Resilience: The outdoor pagoda gateway had to endure heavy equatorial monsoon rains without pigment runoff, structural sagging, or damage to delicate paper and silk lanterns.
- Harmonising Heritage & Contemporary Luxury: Balancing the traditional cultural palette of cinnabar red and imperial gold to evoke auspicious opulence without descending into visual cliché.
Our approach
- Architectural Pagoda & Traditional Gateway:
On the outdoor arrival forecourt, Livindo erected a monumental 7-meter pagoda portal featuring traditional curved dougong eaves brackets. Built from heavy-duty tubular steel clad in moisture-resistant exterior timber panels, it was coated in high-gloss lacquer red and metallic gold leaf.
- 3D Auspicious Animal Sculpting:
Golden dragons and wood horse sculptures were hand-carved from high-density EPS foam by Livindo's master sculptors. Reinforced with composite impact-resistant resin shells, the figures were finished with reflective mirror-gold coatings that glowed under both natural sunlight and night architectural spotlights.
- Meihua Blossom Trees & Fortune Bridge:
Inside the main atrium, majestic meihua blossom trees with thousands of handcrafted pink petals rose above stacked oversized ancient bronze coins and an arched ornamental wooden footbridge, creating an interactive family portrait centerpiece.
- Engineered Overhead Lantern Canopy:
Suspended across the vaulted ceiling was a dynamic lantern canopy engineered with high-tensile stainless steel aircraft cabling. Each suspension line was certified through rigorous static load calculations to guarantee absolute guest safety.
Outcome
Plaza Senayan's Lunar New Year 2026 décor received widespread acclaim from patrons, influencers, and luxury brand tenants. The installation was featured in leading lifestyle publications and generated viral social media buzz as Jakarta's premier Lunar holiday destination, demonstrating Livindo's mastery of large-scale seasonal transformations.
